Sculptures

Indian sculpture continues to shape and be shaped by the cultural contexts it inhabits, remaining an integral part of the artistic repertoire. The sculptures we pick resemble few of the evergreen motifs of South Asia, like the seated Buddha, the Nataraj and the ornate elephants. Indian sculpture frequently incorporates animal motifs like elephants, cobras and occassionaly birds as a nod to their role in religion and mythology. The collection would be incomplete without some of the most iconic symbols of Hinduism and Indian spiritual heritage, the seated Ganesh and the Shiva trimurti.
